The most significant cuts are an alternate prologue showing Dr. Griffiths as a child and, in a rare move, a fully - animated action sequence that takes the place of
a more emotional beat in the final film.
It is a shame that these enticing qualities falter once the film hits its third and final act, where it endeavours to hit
more emotional beats than it needs.
