more chaotic and well worth the
bullet hell title.
If you expect to reach the end on anything
more than the game's easy difficulty, you'll need to be willing to part with plenty
of blood, sweat and tears, and if you haven't got the dexterity or lightning reactions required to master this true
bullet -
hell shooter, then you'll probably need a new controller by the time you're finished too.
While this game may not be a
bullet hell type
of shooter, anyone who has played any
of the arcade shooters from back in the 90's are probably
more familiar with this sort
of top - down scrolling space themed shooter style
of game.
Sure this is taking a lot
of cues from
Bullet Hell shooters, but that's the great thing about indie games: you get to experiment with genres
more freely that AAA games can.

The two games were surprisingly different from one another, the first aligning itself
more as a «breakout» shooter like Arkanoid, the second as the «true» start
of the series»
bullet hell inclinations.
Despite the frequently uninteresting explorations and annoying characters, I still find myself wanting to return for

For those
of you not familiar with the term SHUMP, it's just a short for for «Shoot «Em Up» which are arcade shooters that are a little
more challenging than your typical game in the arcade shooter genre, but not as difficult as a true
Bullet Hell one.
It plays out as a
bullet hell shooter, but with
more freedom
of fire and less freedom
of movement than those games usually allow - Savant has only limited ability to dodge incoming fire, but can aim in a full 360 degree arc to take on his foes.
Once players reach the end
of the dungeon floor, they'll face off against the floor boss, a larger foe with the power to shoot even
more bullets than regular foes and in higher quantities, making for the real
bullet hell portion
of the game.
There are times in this game where you have to throw off the shackles
of accuracy and rely on pure firepower, in sections which borrow less from puzzle platformers and
more from
bullet hell shooters.
That's only about half
of the game's concepts, but the real big one is that players can also unleash special spell cards that turn the battlefield into a
more traditional
bullet hell shooter.

of guns, crafting,
bullet hell and
more guns.
It's this style
of ship control that is generally utilized in the
bullet hell style
of shooter, while the twin stick is
more often used in non
bullet hell shmups.
