Some people have jumped on the situation that Wenger is using Coquelin in the CB position at training, now he only has 3 CBs there and a whole bunch
of midfielders, he has 2 teams a guess practicing against each other a
midfielder would
more than likely be used since Bellerin, Debuchy, Gibbs, Monreal, Chambers,
Holding and Bielik would already be occupied.
Bottom line, if he is angered bench the players who were not good enough and play those who deserve some game time based on the Southampton game or on games where they had a positive impact: - Take Özil out and play Ox in the hole (he has to understand your the highest paid player
of the club, your given freedom like nobody else and your even seeking even
more money with a new contract you can't play like that ever and go AWOL)- Put Sanchez on the wing or up top but put Welbeck in (Walcott didn't track back near enough for the Alsonso goal)- Iwobi has been bright from the wing let him play there - Xhaka has to go back in the
holding midfield role and I would take out Coquelin because he could've taken a foul on the hazard's goal.
The good news is, if we can finally close the deal on Lemar and bring in a top class
midfielder to take Ozil's spot (and ideally also an imposing
holding midfielder and either another top class center back and / or Mustafi reaching
more of his potential consistently), next year and beyond could be a lot
of fun!
Man United currently rely a great deal on veteran Paul Scholes and do not really possess much in the way
of a goal threat with the likes
of Michael Carrick, Anderson and Darren Fletcher not being all that attack minded, whilst also not providing a great deal in the way
of a link between
midfield and attack, being
more concerned with keeping
hold of the ball.

I maintain Ramsey s
more of a curse than a blessing... no10 role is nt jes fr him.He shud stick

lets all thank arsene for finally doing the right thing only time will tell but have we finally signed the DM we need STRONG MINDED NO
HOLD BAR
MIDFIELDER WE HAVE ALL CRAVED, but lets take it back we all know it will take 2 or 3
more like minded players to make us great again, he has tricked us all buy buying one superstar in the last 3 windows ALEXIS, OZIL and CHEC great players but can't do it all on their own, spending huge amount
of money and saying we can buy the best players, on the surface this looks great we are buying top top players big prices but instead
of spending his usual 50 mill on 2, 3, 4, 0r 5 players he has pulled the wool over are eyes with 1 superstar thinking the fans are that dumb enough to believe it, infact he has never spent his budget only balanced on sales too purchases, i love arsenal but this summer i hope for
more he needs to do that consistently through out the team spend the same amount on the team stop balancing the american owners, grow a pair say yes we will buy a top defender and a world class striker, stan we love arsenal please be one
of us do whats needed then you will fell proud as we are and we will adore you for it.
If khedira has any sense he will run in the opposite direction why would he want to sign for a bunch
of losers him alone would not solve our problems he is not a
holding midfielder which we are crying out for and we need at least 2
more defenders to even get anywhere near having enough quality to challenge for anything!
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety
of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style
of play has become a shadow
of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out
of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch
midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid
of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out
of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest
Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes
of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play
of Monreal, but none
of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio
of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our
midfielders, not a single one, minus the
more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey
holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the
midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part
of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a
more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part
of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature
of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player
of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out
of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front
of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's
midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that,
of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one
of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one
of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already
of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs
of the original Wenger offensive model because he
holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack
of mobility is an albatross around the necks
of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because
of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Apart from Mhkitanya who I think is
more of a central
Midfielder than a winger who can
hold on to the ball for long, none
of Arsenal Fc players can
hold the Ball at his fit for 3 - 4 seconds.
I feel with the addition
of 3 - 4
more world class players, (2 strikers and 2
midfielders (one
holding and one attacking to replace Cazorla) we will have enough strength, firepower and creativity to be able to challenge for the CL.
Wenger lost the plot when he brought in Giroud... what about the beautiful game involves having a lumbering striker who's main attribute is
holding up play... our success with Wenger, and even before, came with pace and clinical striking up front, having a boss in the
midfield and having physically imposing CBs... what about Wright, Bergkamp, Anelka, Henry or RVP remind anyone
of Giroud (minus the left foot
of course)... the formula was broken, which didn't have to be the end
of our success, but when you adopt half - measures you can't expect things just to work themselves out on their own... at the very least Wenger should have brought in some wingers that can consistently cross the ball and then spend significantly
more time addressing our lack
of success with set pieces... ultimately this is why we continued to struggle with consistency and continued to constantly play people in the wrong positions
Bring in Ospina for Cech; Gabriel for Koscielny (Kos is 31 and its time we start testing Gabriel and
Holding beside Mustafi to see what our long term first choice defensive partnership will look like); Gibbs for Monreal (Wenger needs to start rotating these 2
more frequently as we need to ascertain if Gibbs can adequately produce the quality to
hold that position from next season for a few years as I'm thinking this might be Nacho's last or penultimate season with Arsenal, it will also give a hint as to the type
of Left - back to target in the summer — first teamer or backup and age as well); I'll like to see an Elneny — Xhaka partnership in this fixture as we might just never know, this might be our replica
of the Kos Mustafa partnership in the centre
of the park, Two disciplined (positionally, i mean) central
midfielders who can play box to box; Chamberlain for Iwobi, and Perez for Alexis should do the work.
Arsenal's main objective this transfer window must be a young strong
holding midfielder, and according to many pundits, the best
of the
more youthful ones available right now is Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho.
Comparing Kondogbia to Sterling is laughable, Kondogbia won the u20 world cup, played at Sevilla in La Liga then went onto Monaco, for one so young he's done
more than you know and it's not just against Arsenal, the Juventus game he
held his own that was a tight 2 legged affair he wasn't overwhelmed by facing a
midfield trio
of Vidal, Pirlo and Pogba
We need a new striker, a new
holding midfielder and a replacement for Alexis who has that special talent, and we also need
more leaders brought into the side who can fire us up on the pitch, while also replacing any
of the dead wood.
They are
more than capable
of holding their own in those games, giving valuable rest to the rest
of the
midfield.
Keeping Giroud on this squad with the promise
of substantial playing time... the offensive tactics
of this squad is way too indirect and is much
more reflective
of a
hold up play / cross in the box scheme that suits Giroud's skill - sets but can't continue if Wenger really wants Lacazette to be successful... without Sanchez on the pitch this offence is a little bit like a headless chicken, passing sideways, providing relatively poor service to undersized players and sub-par finishing... this isn't to suggest that Arsenal can't perform without Alexis but this offensive scheme is antiquated and ill - advised, especially considering our personnel (poor man's Barca)... if Arsenal doesn't want to pay the price to get topnotch players so we can press high and play all out attack, we would be better served by adopting a counterattack approach... unfortunately that would mean developing a far less skittish defensive group that could withstand the pressure and we all know that Wenger hasn't opted for that approach considering our defensive pickups in recent years and the lack
of a «boss» in the
midfield
With that being said, I really think Wenger should go into the market in the summer and bring in another
holding midfielder who is
more fit for the role
of anchoring the Gunners
midfield.
So I expect Arsenal to go for
more of an all round player, a
holding midfielder if you will, and that is why this latest Arsenal transfer rumour reported by The Independent sounds like a very realistic one to me.
Sentiments apart, some players currently warming Chelsea bench are sure starters should they get to our team: Petr Cech, Felipe Luiz, Willian, Ramirez, even the poor Mikel can play a
holding midfielders more any
of our current players cited there!
Do you believe that Mourinho wouldn't have wanted a
more defensive unit and plenty
of the worlds best
holding midfielders.
we can do same with Ozil, Cazorla, Walcott... add that to the workrate
of Ramsey, them, it means we need two
more to
hold the
midfield.
The signing
of Mohamed Elneny and returns
of Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin gives Arsene Wenger
more than enough options to partner Aaron Ramsey in
holding midfield.
Every positive facet
of the Englishman's game was on show throughout one
of the best Premier League games in living memory, and he
more than

of Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne.
His transformation to a

of the second half.
However once
more will a
midfield of Henderson and Can be capable
of holding their own?
The
midfield pair would alternate roles, but
more often than not Jordan Henderson would make the forward runs from
midfield, whilst Joe Allen played
more of a
holding role.
We can also gauge Schneiderlin's suitability to United by comparing him to the rest
of the top four's first choice
holding midfielders, and the stats indicate he is
more than a match for Matic, Manchester City's Fernandinho and Arsenal's emergent star Francis Coquelin.
Henderson started to dictate
more, spraying passes to Ibe on the right from deep and making penetrative forward runs, facilitated by Can
holding at the base
of midfield behind.
United were finding it tough to get
hold of midfield and Carrick was put on to give United
more control.
Although the formation was fluid and the style
of play
more dynamic than the club had seen in  two decades, the main building blocks
of the last season's good form were: two players
holding shape at the base
of midfield and supporting play, occasionally moving forward to add an extra body in the final third, while a central defence
of two or three
held firm just behind.
Most teams that operate this formation have one player who is
more attacking and the other prefers to
hold at the base
of the
midfield.
However, some
of his attributes are similar to those
of the great Yaya Touré, and it would be good to see him given a chance in a Touré - like
midfield role alongside a
more disciplined
holding player.
There is no doubt that he is pushing forward
more often this season, undoubtedly buoyed by a few early - season goals and the endorsement
of a manager who is attempting to play a flexible system that sees Song and (usually) Jack Wilshere take turns to play the
holding midfield role.
A boost in the
midfield might be nice, but Juve has
more than enough to keep
hold of the scudetto for a seventh straight year.
