obviously I would prefer to have a much
more suitable alternative in the defensive midfielder positions but if they focused
more on defensive end and the occasional long -
ball, this would allow Bellerin and Sead ample opportunities to bomb forward on their respective wings while still having enough cover to maintain their defensive shape... it would likewise allow for overlapping
runs on both wings, thereby letting both Sanchez and Perez to cut inside and get shots away in and around the top of the box
with their most dominant feet... if goals were needed I would sub Bellerin for OX and bring Ramsey in for Elneny then switch to a 3 -2-4-1 (
more of a 3 -1-5-1
with Ramsey playing higher up the pitch) and I would only use Giroud as a sub when the game dictated it for tactical reasons... this would allow us to be a high energy team
with incredible link - up play and a much
more direct approach in the offensive end

After seeing a couple of games where he featured and also the one for england he's got it all for me... 1) He has the physical ability to offer the kind of game that our Giroud offers (back to the net: deflecting, relaying passes and 1 - 2 touches) but also 2) Pace, mobility and technical agility to offer so much
more: dribbling past opponents (creating space),
running / turning over defences either to lay down the killing pass to a better placed player or finishing a through
ball from our over talented midfield and all that
with speed and 3) Tactical awareness, willingness to defend players if asked (like the game Man U-Real Madrid in the CL) and could provide support not only in the air on corners!!

running with the
ball to get dispossessed, collide or fall is not
more than doing your job and getting the

This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the
ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through
balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the
ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely
runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the
more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the
ball too long, gives the
ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long
ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played
with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a
more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent
with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the
ball too long and he will give the
ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
I still don't understand people's obsession
with boxing players in to a specific role... The whole «true DM» is a dying breed, even Coquelin is arguably something else considering the advanced positions he takes up often in front of Santi and takes major risks in winning the
ball back for us... IMO, the reason Coquelin has had such a successful integration into the first team is that he focussed incredibly hard on the basics of his role first and foremost before adding other elements to his game (long -
balls, driving
runs into space,
more aggressive
ball movement in general) it's not rocket science to tell a player to curb the attacking side of their game and focus primarily on defence before attack... Nor is it that hard to see that playing in a midfield pairing
with either Ramsey or Cazorla is going to be different as well.
play ozil centrally
with the intent ofless
running more ball distribution.
He will do good, the goal will give him
more confidence to move forward
with the
ball, sometimes he
runs so slowly going forward maybe he needs to work on that.
2016 he was in an offense that
ran the
ball more than anybody, dealt
with injuries, and was still extremely effective when given the chance - Look at these stats from 2016: 7 catches over 100 against WAS, TD against CHI, TD and over 100 against PHI which ended up being the difference in the game for our win, over 100
with a TD against PIT which again turned out to be the difference in the game for our win, 2 TDs and 80 yards which again ended up being the difference in the game for our win against BAL, TD and over 80 yards which ended up being the difference in our win against MIN, over 80 yards against TB, 2 TDs
with 70 yards and a throwing TD against DET, and lets not forget the 132 yards
with 2 TDs against GB in the playoff game that kept us in the game....
Welbz, however, possesses
more attributes of a winger than Ramsey — played there (against his wishes) for multiple years
with united, will stay wide and provide balance, will
run at his his defender, will be another person in the box at the far post should Giroud miss the first
ball — versus where Ramsey is on the complete other side of the field or at the first post or central channel in front of Giroud; has the pace and will look to
run onto the end of
balls from Mesut or Alexis.
Wilshire is a
more stronger when
running with ball and in 50 - 50 tackles.
Yes we have improved we have become
more aware we have started to show some maturity when facing the top dogs and that's the difference between us this season and us getting SMASHED by all of the top teams last season and if you watch football you can see that the city side are not a patch on their former selves nor Liverpool nor even chelski, we are NOT another 49 unbeaten squad not yet and not for a while until the improvements are made, Yea credit where its due of course but lets NOT
RUN AWAY
WITH THE IDEA WE ARE WORLD BEATERS JUST YET EH, AKB's are the reason we'll never improve as a fan base because they can see NO wrong in anything the board or AW does, Im no AOB but I do see the need for self criticism and improvement and at BIGGUN its not a ridiculous statement at all we have improved but they have also been off the
ball and that why we're having a good
run.
It's completely different style to Giroud, but... he's
more a dribbler, a guy who comes to the
ball, a guy who
runs at people
with the
ball.
[Offensive coordinator Noel] Mazzone has wisely elected to
run the
ball more, catering to his quarterback's dual - threat capabilities — Hundley threatened to reach 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in 2013 — and
with the pieces he has inherited in L.A., he has put together one of the nation's most efficient offenses.
how many people noticed during the koln game that sanches lost the
ball more than 6 times few wont notice cos he was
running at defenders and scored a good goal, but believe, me if koln was a good side arsenal would have lost that match due to alexis lost of possession in the middle, i will stick
with welbeck, and bring in alex later.
We need goals everywhere in the side Giroud is the platform to build off the wall pass the man who occupies the centre half's, the attacking mids are there to join in
with him and we need our left and right forwards to arch there
runs from out to in for Ozil to slide
balls in for them after Giroud holding it up or Ramsey to slide the passes or arrive late himself we need to share the goals round the side
more instead of this nonsense of let's find a 30 goal prem scorer which no team has either lol Giroud is contributing well for us of course he misses chances what striker doesn't.
Now, George can play
more off the
ball on offense
with Russell Westbrook
running point.
Giroud is slow but will always know where the goal is and will ping the
ball in off his ear if he needs to and Ramsey is even
more misunderstood but will
run through brick walls for us and has come up
with the goods so many times but still gets a kicking from his own supporters...........
He could have made
more than 1 shot per game on average... Could have been better than 33 % completion of dribbles made... Even Giroud has better success
running with the
ball!
he appears solid in stature, can drive the entire team forward
with his
runs and at an instance he's a true
baller able to mix it and get involve
with the
more technical side of our game.
Xhaka, who I like, or at least I like the Xhaka who plays for the Swiss national squad, has shown to be in way over his head in the premiership... of course he showed late in the year that he can stretch the field
with the long
ball but our squad isn't really set - up for that style of play... most of his long passes are in the air not on the ground and our squad without Giroud, which should have been sold the minute the transfer window officially opened, is one of the smallest in England... we need someone who can pick out the
runs of our forwards in the lanes and who is fast enough to come forward into space without conceding his defensive responsibilities... we rarely see him shoot or even be in a position on the field to do so, we rarely, if ever, see him used for set pieces and it appears that the only person at the club who has ever coached him up when it comes to tackling is Coq, which explains his atrocious disciplinary record... maybe it's me but didn't you see him coming in and contributing
more from an offensive perspective,
with his killer left foot, than a deep - lying midfielder... if that wasn't the case we are the stupidest team alive for taking him over Kante
Ozil needs to be played
more centrally if we hope to benefit from his creativity
with the
ball and Welbeck's first touch is far too sloppy to be played along side Lacazette... we need to find a formation which allows
more service to those making
runs from the middle of the pitch... Lacazette can not play so much
with his back to goal or we're simply playing the same unsuccessful offensive scheme we played
with Giroud, who is much better in that type of role... I can only hope we keep Sanchez and purchase a true defensive midfielder then switch to a 4 -4-1-1, which allows us to have Ozil play
more centrally
with Sead and Sanchez on the left side and Ox and Bellerin on the right, which would stretch defences so much that we could overwhelm most opponents
with both
runs in behind and overlapping
runs out wide
Dak would've targeted Dez
more had he
ran better routes and did all this stuff he's been talking about this offseason a year ago, because
with a WR
with Dez's skill set a 1/2 a step on your guy turns a 50 - 50
ball into a 60 - 40
ball and better odds combined
with his skill set would've lead to Dak trusting him.
TBH we don't really need a CM to actual
run with the
ball —
more to just pass, move and be available again.
An unfit alexis looses the
ball a lot but it don't matter coz xhaka will loose it way
more as ozil waits for the
ball and monreal backs off and let's anyone
run threw on goal aswell as the weak mentality of kicking the
ball out of play for no reason and not even trying to argue
with the officials we might as well chuck Alexis in and out him in goal then put giroud at CB!
Titans need to win games by
running the
ball more with Chris Johnson, not leaving it up to Young to make plays.
Nowdays we have
more talented players who can
run with the
ball and him doing selfish funky things is unnececary.
Arkansas made 11
more and then,
with 30 seconds left, still played for position, daringly
running the

Wilshire if used will again offer something different, I would say
more similar to the ox as they both prefer to
run with the
ball, taking people on.
