I hope that seeing OSOL inspired
more ideas for what can happen when the District listens to parents, empowers a
talented school
leader, and invests in the future.
For example, they can be
more intentional about selecting and training principals who can serve as «turnaround»
leaders, redeploy the most
talented teachers and
leaders to targeted schools, and provide principals with the flexibility to make necessary staff changes (Player, Hambrick Hitt, & Robinson, 2014; Council of the Great City Schools, 2015).
By welcoming
more talented and diverse
leaders to our classrooms through programs like Teach For America, we're also increasing the number of
leaders in our community with the knowledge and experience that comes from teaching in under - resourced communities.
