Contemporary art is comprised of a variety of materials, we know that, but in three or four days at the fairs —
more than, say, in a month in Chelsea — you see it all: string, twine, thread, clay, silicone, wax, rubber,
wood scraps,
wood shims, metal, resins, glass, wire, pins, needles, buttons, stuffing, mattresses, carpet, glazed ceramic, fabric, plywood, rolled paper,
glue tiles, boxes, chains, lace — shall I go on?
Two of these new products, recently featured at the Mass Timber Conference in Portland, Oregon, lie at opposite ends of a spectrum: StructureCraft's Dowel Laminated Timber panel, which cuts out nearly all
glues and resins, and Freres Lumber's Mass Plywood Panel, which utilizes
wood veneers instead of whole lumber and relies on much
more resin than typical CLT.
Then the plywood L was placed over these scraps of
wood and secured with
glue and
more finishing nails.

wood heart sign that was painted in that same blush mixture and engineered by attaching a small
wood pick to the back of a small
wood heart using super
glue.
