Some cats will not like the standard
covered litter box that you see in
most stores.
What I commonly find when I do in - home consultations is that cat parents take the privacy issue too far and try to hide the
litter box in the
most remote locations or they purchase
covered boxes.
Most cats prefer non-scented
litter, an especially important point for owners who plan to use
covered litter boxes.
Most cats deposit their pee and poop in the
litter box,
cover it up, and they're done.
So whether or not we have a high sided
box or
covered box or whatever (we currently have a
covered one because it seems to trap
most of the pee), he will go in to use the
litter box, but his rear end still faces out the entrance and then out the pee goes.
I am not a fan of hooded or
covered litter boxes, and
most cats don't like them, either.
While some cats would prefer
covered litter boxes,
most cats don't.
Most people know to
cover the basics, such as a water bottle, food dish and
litter box.
Also, automatic
litter boxes feature a built - in scooping rake sitting right next to the
litter bed, reducing space for a large cat to walk and turn around comfortably and according to what I have investigated,
most cat owners that make their large cats use one of these devices, complain about the rake being
covered with poop or urine or some waste outside the
litter box.
