In U.S. history, the two most notable efforts to develop religious communities that served much of the role of the welfare state to its members that
most developed countries provided through government to its citizens, have been the Roman Catholic Church, which has developed a large parallel education and health care system, and the Church of the Latter Day Saints, which uses tithes to finance a wide variety of services and economic supports for members of the Mormon community.
The U.S. is the only advanced nation in the world that doesn't mandate paid maternity leave (
most developed countries provide the benefit to fathers or partners as well).

• Assure that those responsible for climate change
provide adequate, predictable adaptation funding to enable
developing countries and in particular the
most vulnerable
developing countries to do what is necessary to avoid climate change damages in cases where it is possible to take action and to prevent damages, or be compensated for climate change damages in cases where it is impossible to take protective action.
• The Montreal Protocol is hailed as the
most successful multilateral environmental treaty having rid the world of 97 % of ozone depleting chemicals while
providing extra time and technical and financial assistance to
developing countries.
This must be done in a way that respects the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities between
developed and
developing countries, and yet
provides the international community — and in particular those
most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change — assurances that pledges will tighten into targets, and that
countries» performance will be assessed against those targets.
