sleep experts agree that childhood insomnia is more
of a behavioral

When I sit down and talk with parents about their baby and
sleep issues, one
of the things that comes up
most frequently is that one (or both)
of the parents is not quite ready for the «tiny baby» phase to be over.
I know when I had my
most recent baby (6 months ago) I had a roomate who was having serious breastfeeding
issues (her baby had tongue - tie but she refused to clip the toungue, she refused to give formula, she wouldn't breastfeed because it hurt and the baby was crying all night long), and it was awful for me — my baby was
sleeping and eating quietly, but I couldn't
sleep because
of her baby.

When children can't
sleep through the night (and there are no health or developmental
issues such as a fever or a growth spurt), the cause is

most books and programs dealing with child
sleep issues take philosophical stands (based largely around the
issue of «crying it out»), I believe that your child's
sleep is more important than my personal views on this subject.
In the July 2014
issue of Parents magazine, readers were told «whatever
sleep training method feels
most comfortable for you is just fine.»
They observed that when given specific knowledge and great empathy,
most families had the ability to solve their child's
sleep issues, and as they helped more and more families, they came to appreciate the large number
of families who struggled with their children's
sleep yet didn't know where to go for support and help.
As a family
