Southwest's Rapid Rewards ®
credit card frequent flyer program operates quite differently than
most other airlines.
Both
cards offer bonus miles for spend with American
Airlines (the Silver
card earns 3 miles / $ which is the
most out of all American
Airlines credit cards), both
cards allow cardholders to earn Elite Qualifying Dollars (which no
other AAdvantage co-branded
card does), both come free of foreign transaction fees and the Silver
card allows holders to earn up to 10,000 Elite Qualifying Miles per year.
$ 40,000 was way too much spend to put on this
card just to get the 10,000 EQM (which is why I haven't done it in recent years) and
most of the
other worthwhile benefits I either get with my
airline status or with
other, cheaper,
credit cards that I hold.
Frontier
Airlines World MasterCard earns two miles per dollar spent directly with FlyFrontier.com and one mile per dollar for all
other purchases, which is pretty standard for
most co-branded
airline credit cards.
Many people can replicate the
most important benefits of low - level status with an
airline credit card and then pay for any
other extras they still need or want.
These
cards all have steep annual fees ($ 450), but are generally worth it to frequent travelers because they are so packed with bonuses, perks and benefits that we value
