mostly by property taxes, they've long groused that the «unfunded mandate» from Albany has hurt homeowners and businesses.

Cuomo's office estimates that 3.3 million New Yorkers will save $ 12.1 billion
by deducting their state and local
taxes (which, in New York, is
mostly income
taxes) and $ 5.2 billion
by deducting their
property taxes this year.
This is hardly surprising, but it's also worth noting that the WFP has agreed to embrace Cuomo's «New NY Agenda» — a condition laid out
by the AG in order for him to accept the party's nod — which includes a
property tax cap, creation of another pension tier and a wage freeze for public employees, among other proposals of which many unions (
mostly the progressive and public sector types) aren't fond.
And while a permanent
property tax cap supported
by the group has been advocated for
mostly vocally
by Senate Republicans in recent days, the cap was originally passed due to Cuomo's efforts.
But
mostly, the estate could potentially incur financial liabilities
by allowing that to happen (
property taxes, unpaid utilities, physical damage), and in the process reduce the proceeds of the estate such that creditors that must be paid might get «shorted».
