The company removed the physical home button for a greater screen - to - body ratio and
moved the fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, but its location right next to the rear camera is uncomfortable.
Both have the same rolling glass design at the sides of the phones, and both have
the moved fingerprint scanner on the back, below the camera rather than alongside it.
Speculated alternatives included ridding the 5.8 - inch iPhone 8 of Touch ID altogether,
moving the fingerprint scanner on the back of the smartphone, or delay the production (and, as a result, the release) of the handset.

The renders also show how Samsung would
move the location of the
fingerprint scanner on the
back from the phone, from being to the right of the camera module to below the camera module.
Two things: the
fingerprint scanner has been
moved to a much easier - to - reach spot
on the
back of the phone, and the single speaker has been upgraded to a stereo pair.
Of course, OnePlus's decision to remove the capacitive navigation keys and

on facial recognition, or just

back of the handset just like what Samsung did.
Moving away from the notch, it's incredibly likely that the OnePlus 6 will feature a
fingerprint scanner on the
back, underneath a set of dual cameras.
Soon, however, Apple might be able to ditch the home button without having to
move its
fingerprint scanner to a less convenient position
on the
back of the phone.
