It
's Peele
's way of winking at the audience, acknowledging that he knows we've seen a million horror
movies before and we
're in good hands as such.
But on the other
hand, we
're at a point
in film history where there
's only one star who
's good at this kind of musical leading man role who has enough box office credibility from other projects (specifically his nearly 20 - year run as Wolverine) to get an automatic green light for almost any new musical
movie just by saying «Yes,» and that
's Jackman — so I'd rather not nitpick him to death here.
And while it

in confidence that our favorite mutants

Well, just like probably all of you guys like to see different kinds of
movies every week — a little of this, a little of that — it
's fun professionally to, like, get
in the ring and design creatures and have guys
in suits and puppets and just, y ’ know, bring
in all this stuff... I remember when I

be glued to the screen, wishing that one day I'd
be able to get my
hands dirty doing something like that.

«I can say that Shane Black

The only place where the
movie really falters
is in the final minutes, which
is a little too nice for the events that precede it, because even though the subject matter may
be bleak, «Starred Up»
is a truly captivating film about the ineffectiveness of the penal system and
hands - down one of the
best prison dramas
in recent memory.
This
is despite a storyline that could've,
in better, more talented
hands,
been employed to relatively compelling effect, with the
movie's emphasis on silliness and irreverence undoubtedly designed to evoke its similarly - themed 1980s brethren.
I advise you do your
best to not pay attention to the commander

hand in the collective sand that
is an unhealthy obsession with
movies.
