The overall tone
falls more
in line with the Guardians of the Galaxy
movies than the other Thor or Avengers
movies.
I saw Something Wild on its opening weekend
in a vast, empty theater
in Westwood (I waited an hour
in line to see Blue Velvet at a packed theater nearby earlier that
fall) and after it was over, the screenwriter I was with and I looked at each other elated and buzzed yet
in shared disbelief that this
movie was clearly not going to be a smash.
Since Director William Oldroyd's reputation is on the
line with his first full - length
movie, he is fortunate
in starring Florence Pugh as title character, a woman whose prior film experience has been only
in «The
Falling,» wherein she played a charismatic pupil
in a 1969 English girls» school faced with a mysterious fainting epidemic.
The end result is an effort that
falls right
in line with Egoyan's passable yet disappointing run of recent films, which is a shame, certainly, given that the
movie admittedly does possess a notable number of positive attributes.
While Reynolds knew exactly what he wanted the comic book
movie to be, this occasionally didn't
fall in line with Tim Miller's vision, and this evidently led to some harsh words.
