My 8 yr old stayed in the bed with me (and hubby) since day 1, when I got pregnant with my second when he was 16 mths old, we set up his room with a toddler bed (he could get out of his playpen since 9 mths un-assisted, and never had a crib) so we made sure it was fun and playful and gave him that option, we also set up a separate cot beside out bed, so he could be with us still (I was not comfortable being pregnant with a toddler and hubby in bed then, knowing I would have a baby soon) since I was pregnant I was able to talk about it to him and explain why he was going to have to one day move to his own bed (in our room or his) by the time I had the baby he was starting the nights in his own bed and if he woke up he would come into his cot beside our bed... I let him continue like that as long as he wanted, it took time but I did not push him at all, same with breast feeding I let him make the choice... when I left my hubby (now ex) the boys were both big enough (2 and 4 yrs) for me to be comfortable with them both in bed with me, and I was still nursing my younger one until he was around 3.5 yrs old, so we just had a big bed with us all piled in, I miss those days so much: (so how did I finally get them both out of my bed?
by getting pregnant again:P lol but they have both had their own beds for more then 2 yrs available to them, and they had many times slept in them... But I am currently thinking of getting a bigger bed so when my 5.5 mth old is a bit bigger the boys can come in with us again if they want (on occasion I wake up to find one or the other in bed with me and the baby and I love it;) I know it might sound like I have taken on a lot to keep them all with me for so long, but in reality the time has went by far too fast, and the memories of those nights I love and cherish them now... what works for me might not work for others, I have heard of so many safe and wonderful co-sleeping (or sharing) ways that family's have came up with, what works for some wont work for others, so it is best to look into it to find the best way that works for your family:) drmamma.org has some wonderful tips and suggestions... if you want t talk more, feel free to respond I would be glad to help in anyway I can:)
i am a firm believer in BREAST IS BEST!my daughter is now 9 mths and goin strong!she is so healthy - from birth she was 10lbs2oz - now she is around 22 lbs and 30in tall and almost walking!i started gvin her a little bit of baby food around 5 mths (she actually wasnt impressed!she prefers bits of table food) but she really only wants to nurse!i plan on nursing her untill shes ready to quit - despite my moms jokes about me in the future sitting in her 1st grade class and nursing her in the back!i actually plan on becoming a breastfeeding advocate and supporter for new moms that really want to breastfeed!i try to encourage any pregger (even strangers) and i cant wait to gain more knowledge so i can really help others!ther is such a special connection that i feel as i nourish my child and she stares up into my eyes!and its so convinent - its the all - in - one fix!
Good Morning from Australia, two yrs ago after suffering from Bowel gut and fatigue problems and Dr diagnosed me with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and put me on 5 mg of T3 and bio identical hormones, after 18 mth I have become major fatigued and in my bed for the last 10wks, I have developed bursitis of the left shoulder and pains in my wrists, I was admitted into hospital recently due to tinnitus and pale / yellow skin aged over night, they say my thyroid levels were ok, but my hormones were through the roof, I went gluten lactose yrs ago, my eyes are so sore and I have pins and needles in my left heel, I don't have any arthritis S they tested me by doing a bone test which showed I had it only in my left big toe, my stomach near pancreas liver area consists constantly of nausea my head has fuzzy muzzy throbbing symptoms and my left ear has tinnitus but the ear specialist could not find anything, I also have nodules either side and apparently have a hole in each one?

The reason is that jumping into MTH can be very confusing when you're starting out and it can be quite easy to make mistakes.
We struggled with our now 10 mth old son to start solids as he was not a fan of the whole mashed food process to the point we were sent to a speech pathologist to see if there was something wrong with his mouth, turns out there was nothing wrong with his mouth he really dislikes mashed food and will sit and eat feeding himself quiet happily if it is chopped into little pieces his fingers can pick up.
