Terribly rushed game for next gen consoles, not any interesting graphcis, incredibly short open world, borring
story, repetitive missions, annoying
cops as
much as you couldn't even imagine.
The filmmakers — Ron Shelton directing a David Ayer script based on a James Ellroy
story — obviously want us to swallow a bitter pill, but traditionally Hollywood genres, even the LA
cop thriller, are sweet and don't have
much of an aftertaste.
The
story is
much like any sleazy
cop thriller full of synth music that could have come from any straight - to - video production company in the 80s or 90s.
The East - West dichotomy was what drew him to the Schraders» script, although he
cops to bringing in Towne for a polish, because the
story on offer «was too
much a straight - ahead martial arts picture for me.»
I'm rooting for Our Time Will Come, a nearly perfect WWII spy film that is very
much in keeping with the HKFA's tradition of honoring extremely well - done genre fare (past winners include Police
Story, A Better Tomorrow, Beast
Cops, Shaolin Soccer, Infernal Affairs, Running on Karma, Election, Gallants, The Grandmaster and Trivisa).
Much more than just a
cop movie spoof, Hot Fuzz does excellent things in toying with audience expectations while scoring points as a murder mystery, a detective drama, a slasher film, a small - town sitcom, and a fish out of water
story.
One
story examines the escalating misfortunes of Sal Procida (Ethan Hawke), an NYPD officer corrupted not so
much by greed as by a need to provide for his growing family on a
cop's salary.
But at the same time, it's more
much bigger, like huge action adventure books; it's instantly obvious that something more sinister than ordinary
cops stuff, than mystery crime
stories is going on, something big and weird right out of a series of huge, black op action thrillers is at play.
The fighting in the
story still looks great as do the main characters, but the background characters like SWAT team members or
cops don't seem to have
much work put into them.
Battlefield Hardline focuses on
cops vs. criminals and this new core conflict has allowed Visceral Games to bring forth a
much more ambitious single - player
story campaign that's modeled after
cop dramas we see on TV, from Law & Order, to CSI, and
much more.
