author branding».
But
platform is
about much more than that, and there are
authors with very strong
platforms who never touch social media.
We all have our own hunches
about how marketable a concept is, how well an
author's
platform will translate into sales, and how
much readers, reviewers, and the press will like the book.
As a new writer, I am still very
much in the process of building a daily writing habit whilst juggling the other aspects of running an
author business such as building a
platform and learning
about the writing craft.
But
much of the time, since my book is a memoir, the interviewers end up asking followup questions
about me — which is really
about Author Platform!

about when and where it makes sense to publish digitally for one project, publish traditionally for another project, self - publish another project, and so on, all with the same level of professionalism and personal branding.
You're likely familiar with Goodreads, but if not, they're a huge (20 million members)
platform for readers and
authors, designed primarily for readers who want to exchange info and ideas
about their reading,
much to learn there.
But now that I'm in the early stages of my second career writing mysteries with female lead characters it's been very humbling to discover how
much I have to learn
about trying to gain visibility, i.e.
platform, as a self - published
author.
