I love homemade vanilla and pretty
much all fruit ice creams.

I do love my
fruits and veggies, but I'd
much rather eat 3 servings of Oreos or a huge bowl full of
ice cream sometimes — hello, sugar!
I love how there is chocolate, salad, more chocolate,
ice cream, yummy
fruit, and so
much more.
I hate adding
ice to mine too and freezing the
fruit first does make it nice and thick without watering it down too
much.
As
much as we all love
fruit pies, cobblers and cakes, perfectly juicy
fruit (peaches, rosy berries, taut cherries) is often better left naked and raw, maybe spooned onto a scoop of
ice cream, a buttery shortcake biscuit or a slice of poundcake to add a sweet and luscious note.
I've pretty
much been living off of salads and
fruit (and
ice cream, but don't judge).
We're also fans of tossing
ice cubes into smoothies, but if you have frozen
fruit on hand it can be that
much better:

They had processed high - sugar breakfast cereals (heaven forbid they should actually cook some oatmeal), gallons of fresh milk (because powdered is «icky» and they won't eat it), cheese (that was a luxury we couldn't afford), frozen convenience foods, juice (which is
much less healthy than
fruit and expensive relative to nutrients), and soda, candy, donuts, cookies, cracker,
ice cream and other treats we couldn't possibly afford.
If you pack your smoothie with sweet ingredients —
ice cream, flavored yogurt, sweetened almond milk, honey or too
much frozen
fruit — you'll be adding significantly to your daily sugar intake, which increases the drink's calorie count and may lead to blood sugar spikes.
We ate plenty of homemade bread,
fruit, pastured and grass fed meats, homegrown vegetables and
fruits as
much of the year as we could buy them, and some treats like homemade cookies and cakes and
ice cream once in a while.
I really didn't realize how
much sugar I had been consuming, between all the
fruit, granola, and smoothies and snacks, not to mention outright sweets like
ice cream (non-dairy of course) and gluten - free cookies.
