In 2013, when one could just start to glimpse that some reforms might be going south, I mused, «

Brill is a fan of Shanker
as an education
reformer (and says nice things about my biography of Shanker), but throughout the book, Brill unfortunately voices
much of same class bias reflected by NEA members.
And the people's anger will only grow
as they realize that
much of the money that paid for all the mailings and television ads to support Finch's plan was donated by national education
reformers like Michelle Rhee ($ 100,000 and counting), Mayor Michael Bloomberg ($ 20,000), and Connecticut businesses that should never have diverted funds to this anti-democracy initiative.
By giving every student direct access to digital instruction, student interests and readiness can be identified, instructional tools can be modified to each student's particular situation, and a personalized learning environment can be created,
much as the 20th century
reformer John Dewey had envisioned.
The final admonition, is not so
much a message for the Corporate Education
