at a rapid clip and the show is slickly - edited with a mix of long takes on a moving camera and quick cuts.
Instead of the touching, subtly humorous look
at a conflicted and changing community during an incredibly tumultuous time in American history that this movie could have been, The Help is an over the top,
joke of a movie that manages to be both boring and have too

much, and even the lighting (from cinematographer James Laxton, «For a Good Time, Call...») feels,

much removed from Ron Jeremy being a porn star is beyond me: both play on this fantasy that women like Kunis are available to men like Segel and, therefore, to every schlub sitting in the dark chucking blunt elbows into each other's rib cages

Carey has a terrific cast
at her disposal (including familiar TV stars Bill Hader, Scott Porter, Rachel Bilson, Andy Samberg, Alia Shawkat, Clark Gregg and Connie Britton), but the heroine is too
much of a cliché — the naive nerd — and the
jokes are too obvious.
Going into Wang Bing's latest documentary, Mrs. Fang, I was too busy cracking
jokes about how
much shorter it is than his previous works (his breakthrough film, Tie xi qu: West of the Tracks, clocks in
at nine hours; his recent masterpiece»Til Madness Do Us Part comes in
at close to four) and had somehow failed to realize I'd be watching almost an hour and a half of a woman lying on her deathbed.
The two actors have had pretty
much the same kind of film career, and while I know that I still believe that Johnson actually has a career in front of him I think it's a nice little
joke that's worth laughing
at.
