Over-the-ear headphones are big business these days, especially those that both look cool and provide so
much bass level response that the fillings in your teeth could be loosened.

Boost the
bass level of the three - band EQ too
much or crank the volume too high and you will hear an obnoxious rattling coming from all over the Prius» cabin.
Lowering the
bass levels doesn't really do
much to help, so I ended up adjusting the kind of music that I played while motoring to avoid electronica, pop, and hip - hop.

bass, boosting low frequencies to a
level you can feel as
much as hear.
They sound really good, though, with
much of that smooth, balanced character we like so
much in our main pick, the Sony MDR - 7506, but a little more
bass, a little less treble, and a mellower sound that might make them more enjoyable to listen to at high
levels and for long stretches (namely, the way DJs use headphones).
The sound profile does change at top volumes, however, with the mids and highs sounding a little shrill as the
bass drops away, but it's still very listenable, very
much filling the room with your music at neighbour - bothering
levels.

While we liked the sounds of the mids and highs, out of the box there can be a too
much bass so we didn't feel bad dialing it down by one
level.
Where things get really interesting, though, is with the MS650's» innovative distortion - cancelling technology that helps it to achieve
bass levels much deeper than those you can get from a standard speaker design.
