It's extracted from birch trees and has a very low glycemic index,
much lower than even agave or
coconut palm sugar, and it tastes similar (if a little fresher) than sugar.
I use spectrums
coconut oil, it works great and tastes
much better than
palm oil.

much... i just made them for thanksgiving b.f. (canadian thanksgiving is today), and they turned out lovely... although, i replaced the sugar with
coconut palm sugar and i think it might have overwhelmed the maple - y taste... or perhaps my maple syrup wasn't strong enough... will have to experiment... thanks again...
I did substitute a few things, though — I used Bob's Red Mill All Purpose Gluten - Free Flour in the dough, and in place of the erythritol I used
coconut palm sugar (I love this stuff sooo
much!).
The paper cites seven clinical trials in which
coconut oil was found to raise LDL «bad» cholesterol just as
much as butter, beef fat, and
palm oil.
According to the advisory,
coconut oil is 82 percent saturated fat, and studies show it raises LDL «bad» cholesterol as
much as butter, beef fat or
palm oil.
Certainly for home cooking efforts, there are
much better choices such as grassfed butter, ghee, tallow, lard,
coconut, red
palm oil, and avocado oil.
Unlike most other brands that harvest MCT's from
palm oil, (a
much cheaper and environmentally taxing source), by using pure
coconut oil we also deliver approximately 30 % Lauric Acid, an important form of MCT that acts as a slower burning fuel source.
Light saute cooking with olive oil at temperatures no higher than 200 - 250F seem to be safe and minimally damaging, but oven baking or higher heat cooking on the stovetop with olive oil is not wise given that there are
much hardier and less expensive fats to choose from like expeller pressed
coconut oil or
palm oil!
For those that like to know about substitutions — I always use honey instead of agave nectar and did so here; I did use grapeseed oil here because it was the first time and I wanted to not vary the recipe the first time
much but I will use
coconut or
palm oil next time as they seem to work fine in the other recipes I've tried so far from this blog.
At the top end, Lonely Beach and
Palm Beach offer total seclusion, while
Coconut Beach and Long Set Beach are starting to develop as of 2016, but are still sparsely populated with a
much higher standard of accommodation than you'll find on Sok San (other than Sok San Beach Resort).
Much of the interior is given over to
coconut cultivation, though tourists are proving themselves a more lucrative crop and slowly the
palm plantations are either making way for places to stay or at least shading bungalows beneath.
Woody plantations crops like oil

much better, although their advantages are reduced when they are grown in place of carbon - rich tropical rainforests and peat lands.
But hopefully you won't spend too
much time on the sofa, given the nearby vanilla plantations,
coconut palms and a large wild beach; think swimming, diving, and hiking, for starters.
