Given Marc's huge topic about afterburn of resistance training and efficacy of HIIT cardio, I'd like to indicate that Bikram yoga (and possibly other kinds I haven't attempted) includes a good deal of
strength training (mostly the largest muscles i.e.
legs, core and lower back with upper body coming as you go heavier) and feels pretty
much like a high intensity cardio work out for perhaps 60 - 70 of the 90 minutes — as well as the other advantages.
This could be the reason why someone who is strong can
leg press a large number of lbs but they can not squat with weight, stand on one
leg or they may hurt their back doing something simple like picking something heavy off the floor this is because they do n`t have
much core
strength or stability.
However, the
legs should very
much be involved if optimal
strength is to be exhibited.
My
legs have a lot of
strength, but I am always afraid of putting too
much weight on the bar (although I don't have pain - just afraid of making the curve worse).
But T'Challa eventually gains control over his
much larger foe with a dubious
leg lock, and M'Baku cedes the challenge in a moment of quiet, vulnerable
strength.
