Liquid smoke has a lovely, deep, smokey flavour and it pretty
much replicates the flavour of
smoked meat.
For my taste it is
much better without
liquid smoke just add a bunch of cracks of pepper instead and its amazing.
This turned out
much more tasty with red beets, celery, Southwestern seasonings, a tiny touch of
liquid smoke, and of course, the Beyond Meat Feisty Crumbles.
The sodium is high for me so I might opt for low sodium and a half amount of
liquid smoke and hope it doesn't alter the taste too
much..
I personally thought the
liquid smoke and fennel seeds were about 2x as
much as my palate likes, but when it cooks it loses some intensity.
Super easy and absolutely delicious... Note to the true novices at cooking (like myself): I don't think
much of the
liquid should go in the oven as that seemed to create some
smoke... Still, turned out delicious and an easy source of ready protein.
Add in the
liquid smoke at the end of the cooking, stir it in while it is cooling down so as not to damage the flavor too
much and get back to your chicken.
Anonymous: Ground dried chipotle chilies would work as a substitute, otherwise you can get the heat by using pretty
much whatever form of chili that you do have, say cayenne, and then if you want the smokiness from the chipotles, add some
liquid smoke.
In contrast,
liquids in 3 - D behave in the opposite manner, starting as large structures and spinning out into smaller structures,
much like the dispersal of cigarette
smoke.
I couldn't quite smell anything (I
smoke too
much), but the
liquid was a pinkish color and it looks as if the coolant is about half - gone.
