Much of the
news this past week has focused on what Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg did — or did not do — when he found
out that Cambridge Analytica had gained unauthorized access to information about tens of millions of Facebook users.
If I tell something to the papers and they don't write it accurately, it's really bad — they can't do
much when you tweet it and I'm careful about, it's very precise, actually it's very, very precise — and it comes
out breaking
news, we have breaking
news — ya know, it's funny, if I did a press release and if I put it
out, it wouldn't get nearly — people would see it the following day — if I do a
news conference, that's a lot of work.
These media already give the
news that the public needs and are
much better about screening
out lies, whether because of regulations (in the case of radio and newspapers) or traditions of responsibility (in the case of most print media).
Markets have been crazy this month, but rather than try to wade through all the
news,
much of which doesn't seem to have
much informational content, I thought I would duck
out altogether and instead make a list of things I expect will happen over the next several years.
At last, a
much - needed debate is breaking

news» (due, no doubt, to «careful fiscal management») down the road. The auto package could thus generate as
much as $ 10 billion in «surprising good
news» for Ottawa in the years to come (depending on the ultimate worth of the public equity share).

news sites about it to rant and rave as if you genuinely think people give a squat about your opinion.

The
