The Essential Phone, on the other hand, offers pretty
much stock Android, with only a few tweaks to optimize the display for the notch at the top of the phone.
The Moto G runs pretty
much stock Android 4.4 on arrival but it's due to get the upgrade to Android L when that starts to roll out.
Hopefully updates will continue on these pretty
much stock Android devices.

much rather do that for an ereader bigger than my Archos 5, with a lot of
Android capabilities such as Nook, Kindle and Borders apps that will do the decryption for me and have the wifi for direct downloads (and the music player will work ok, although some PDN owners with better hearing have complained about the sound quality).

MIUI is a far cry from
stock Android, but Xiaomi's
much needed overhaul to the interface has made it more aesthetically pleasing, and includes many features that actually add a fair amount of value to the software experience and without coming off as gimmicks.
The Bottom Line The Samsung Nexus S brings a
much - needed
stock Android OS, Gingerbread, to AT&T.
Speaking of the camera app, it's the only real change to speak of when comparing the Essential OS to
stock Android, and it doesn't bring
much to the table.
I've not been too keen on Huawei's software before now because it changes so
much of the
stock Android interface that it ends up feeling quite bloated and sluggish.

The G5 Plus ships with
Android Nougat and Oreo «is on its way», and as ever the Moto doesn't mess around
much with the
stock Android: the few additions, such as the Moto app's ability to make the fingerprint sensor work as navigation buttons, are worthwhile.
While data tethering is quite easy to use on most of the
Android device, and considering that Droid Turbo comes with almost similar
stock Android interface, it is not
much different.
Due to this
stock Android, Nexus devices are very
much famous around the world for the smooth experience.
Ultimately, it all comes down to the fact that manufacturers add layers of bloat on top of
stock Android, so doubling it up to accommodate seamless updates would simply take up too
much storage space.
The problem isn't unique to HTC — previewers of the Samsung Galaxy S III claim similar behaviour some instances — but I can confirm that, compared to the Galaxy Nexus running
stock Android 4.0.4, the issue is
much more common.
Because the company uses a different font than
stock Android,
much of the text doesn't leave enough padding between it and the bottom of a cell, making it look unfinished and amateurish.

stock Android UI clean as a whistle, there's not
much you need to optimize, with public beta tests followed by a stable 8.1 rollout after just a few weeks.

It's EMUI is still heavy enough to retain distinction from
stock Android, though
much closer to the real thing...
And even in the spec space, we have already seen our share of «OnePlus 5 has more RAM, dual cameras and a UI similar to
stock Android at a
much lower price,» and «Samsung S8 and Galaxy Note are cheaper» comments.
And running on top of all this is
Android 6.0.1, although this one is close to
stock Android with not too
much interference from BlackBerry.
We enjoy
stock Android as
much as the next person — but you can't argue with a more updated version of
Android, even if it is hidden behind EMUI.
This addition didn't make
much sense, as the original Moto G already ran
stock Android when this was released in January of 2014.
The
stock Android crowd might be scandalized at this, but all things considered, the Honor 9 Lite seems a
much better proposition than the Xiaomi Mi A1.
