The human body is quite capable of adapting to, and even being fairly comfortable in,

The proteins inside cells work together this way, but whereas biological systems are water - based and markedly
temperature - sensitive, these molecular nanosystems will be able to operate in a far
wider range of environments and should be
much faster.
The mean
of a
range of studies put the current warm period higher than at any other time since the last glacial (the Holocene period), but
of those studies there is
wide variance, with some showing higher
temperatures, and some showing
much lower.
We find that over a
wide range of values
of diapycnal diffusivity and Southern Ocean winds, and with a variety
of changes in surface boundary conditions, the spatial patterns
of ocean
temperature anomaly are nearly always determined as
much or more by the existing heat reservoir redistribution than by the nearly passive uptake
of temperature due to changes in the surface boundary conditions.
