I made this Skinny Thanksgiving Spice
Mulled Wine as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars.
I'm as partial to a glass or two of
mulled wine as anyone else, but given the choice I'd go for mulled cider every time.

Whatever the reason, this cake is wonderful and I'm sure it would taste
as yummy with poached peaches in the summer
as it does with
mulled wine in the winter.
I did, however, manage to squeeze in one recipe — another one for my second batch of hampers —
mulled wine biscuits or
as I have named my adapted version, chocolate, almond and cranberry bites.
It is thus not surprising that in Europe, it is heavily associated with Christmas and used to

wine with powdered cinnamon, a cup of apple juice you stole from your niece, and whiskey because it was the only brown liquor in the joint, does not make
mulled wine.
The nostalgic scent of pine
as we decorate the tree or the wafts of allspice and
mulled wine emerging from the kitchen.
Overindulgence in too many calorific treats such
as mince pies (around 200 calories each), Christmas cake (approximately 250 calories per slice) and
mulled wine (about 250 calories in a glass) can leave us all struggling to buckle our belts in the New Year.
