Enriching the experience are gorgeous art and graphics (despite this being a PS1 game, I think the visuals have aged quite well), Hitoshi Sakimoto's magnum opus soundtrack, and, in true Yasumi Matsuno fashion, a twisting,
mysterious plot where pretty much no one is who they appear to be.
Not exact matches
So yeah, we all know that Black Panther, a.k.a. Prince T'Challa, is going to triumph over adversity in his bid to bring harmony to the kingdom of Wakanda, that there will be the obligatory action sequences
where actual danger is a distant possibility for both hero and bystander, and that the
plot will pivot on a
mysterious object of unknown origin («Vibranium,» in this case — don't worry if it sounds unfamiliar; the film's characters will mention it at least three - dozen times over the course of the movie).
Compare its
plot to those of the classic Gothic novels and films in which a young, naïve woman marries a
mysterious man, moves into his ancestral home
where she is greeted by sinister domestic staff, and goes on to find clues that suggest a horrible family secret.
To say
where the
plot goes would be unfair, but it involves a
mysterious malady, an impossible choice, and a terrible reckoning.
PLOT: In a future
where citizens are forced to wear technology that tracks their actions 24/7, a cop (Clive Owen) hunts a serial killer, whose victims have all had dealings with a
mysterious hacker (Amanda Seyfried), who's off the grid.
That's
where Frank the Bastard finds itself, since despite having a
mysterious title and a
mysterious premise (a young woman confronts her past when she returns to the creepy commune she grew up in), the movie just spins its wheels as it looks for the dullest way to finally admit the pitiful details of its mystery
plot.
