Kite Hill doesn't make nut milk but they have some interesting nut based yogurts and cheeses.
So why
not make NUT MILK using some sesame seeds... and have a whole food CALCIUM drink for your child?

nt want to buy one as I know the processed stuff isn't that healthy.
In addition to the typical almond and coconut
milk varieties, (been there, done that) the brand has introduced
milks made from pistachios and pecans,
nuts not yet seen in the category.

I've always been a huge advocate of
making your own
nut milk or dairy free
milk because you're in control and your
not taking in all those fillers and preservatives that can be really harsh on your little one.
So have a read of all these super easy alternatives to

not a fan of dairy, so I've firstly included a basic
nut milk recipe):

make my own
nut milk, most of the times I take the lazy route and just go for the shop bought ones.

And
making it with a Vitamix didn't require straining it through a
nut milk bag, so it was much easier than
making almond
milk.
I don't actually
make nut milk that often but I still use my
nut milk bag (note: it's
not just you, I don't like the name either:)-RRB- frequently.
It's seems that a slab of homemade bread
made with flour milled on the premises, spread with locally produced raw
milk butter or organic
nut paste, isn't out of line.
Our hot chocolate mix can also be combined with our protein powders or
nut pastes to
make a delicious smoothie drink (mix with lukewarm -
not cold as the fat in the coconut
milk needs a little heat to dissolve).
I used to be a big fan of their coconut
milk, but I am
not so mad on all the added sugar, I prefer to
make my own
nut mylks lately!
I have
not yet
made cashew
milk (probably ever other kind of
nut milk but cashew!)
Here are the few things I did to
make mine work since I didn't have a
nut milk bag to get my first batches of pulp more dry: First I added some ground chia seed.
FYI, you can also use an organic probiotic bill to and put it into the cashew cream /
nut cream / or
nut free hemp (any) seed cream... to to turn it into yogurt / if you can't buy real Kefir Bacteria (Lactobacilli bacteria)- Its
not dairy but is used to
make milk into Kefir and after its used to turn
milks into yogurt, you can strain out the original chunks of bacteria (which is what we do here in Greece and then put the Kefir in the freezer so you can perpetually re-use it — while waiting for yogurt to become cheese.
I've been meaning to

nut milk for as along as I can remember but I just couldn't bear the hustle of straining the
milk through the
nut bag and
making a big mess with it all... So I decided to experiment with my Nutribullet instead.
that is the main reason I have
not been
making my own
nut milks — the store bought ones can be as low as 30 cal / cup, but most of the recipes I see on line come to well over 100!
I would
not make the paste with coconut
milk, but use coconut
milk to
make the turmeric drink (
not the canned coconut
milk, but the pack variety similar to
nut milk like almond
milk or such things).
Well, this Vegan Strawberry Cacao Nibs Smoothie is
made with frozen organic strawberries (so you don't have to worry about whether strawberries are in season or
not) and your favorite
nut or hemp seed
milk.
I ordered a
nut milk bag (my husband can
not get over the fact that's what it is called) and a glass pitcher for the fridge to
make almond
milk, but I am bookmarking this to try too.
I then
made Almond
Milk Yogurt last night but this morning I realized that I did
not put boiling water on the
nut bag to sterilize or on the almonds.
I would probably use it for just about everything from smoothies, soups (I mean it doesn't get better then butternut squash, carrot, and ginger soup), bulletproof tea,
nut milks... but most importantly I would
make babyfood for my baby boy!
I can't wait to explore
making nut milks and creams!

make super smooth soups, smoothies, and
nut milks.
Also,
nut milks & butters wouldn't seem like such a difficult thing to
make with an appliance like vitamix.

making nut milk at home, don't be intimidated!
Making your own cashew
nut milk could honestly
not be any easier.
My juicer allegedly
makes great
nut milks but I haven't tried yet.
The latter
made all of their own
nut milks in house, and
not just almond!
It is
not necessary to soak
nuts and seeds before
making milk out of them.
Making your own yogurt (for Greek I strain it with a
nut milk bag, super helpful and reusable where cheese cloth is
not) isn't hard either if you like yogurt.
I do the same when I
make nut milks or when I
make hemp
milk, use a bit of sunflower lecithin, it does wonders doesn't it?!
It is also very easy to
make nut free - use a seed butter, use fine maize meal instead of the ground almonds and use a non diary
milk not made from
nuts!

I'd love to
make nut milks and creams, sadly my current blender just isn't up to that job, it takes a super duper blender to do that!
Going through with it and doing a little calculation proved me wrong though - in fact, if you buy your
nuts in bulk, as I do, you can
make your own almond
milk for less money than the bought stuff, and the
nut pulp needn't be wasted but is a bonus that you can use in other kitchen creations.
And while you don't want to go overboard on some foods that block iron absorption — like cow's
milk,
nuts, and even eggs — it's a very good idea to
make these foods a regular part of mealtime.

milk have a creamy consistency similar to a thick soy
milk and a nutty taste perfect for
making vegan fruit smoothies or other creamy drinks and desserts, though they don't taste much like dairy
milk, and are best in non-savory dishes.
One of my biggest thrills in the last couple years have been when my kids ask for sprouts,
nut milk, carrot juice, green smoothies... I really want my kids lunches to «look like» the other kids lunches so they aren't
made fun of just because they eat «differently» Perhaps this won't even be a worry at all....

nut milk, and some commercial preparations are
not sufficient as the only food source (1).
Ashley, I don't know the answer to your hemp fat question but I do know that in addition to hemp
milk, home
made brazil
nut milk is great for weaning a baby off breast
milk.
Psst: If you're new to
making nut milk at home, don't be intimidated!
If you don't have a high - speed blender to
make the coconut
milk, strain it through a sieve or a
nut milk bag to remove any tiny pieces that may
not have blended well.
I recommend using homemade
nut milk or coconut
milk, but if you are using store - bought,
MAKE SURE it does
not have any gums, thickeners, preservatives, or sugars.
Why don't
make a sweet butternut soup to start the day with or experiment your butternut smoothies, or
make a delicious cream using your favorite vegetable
milk and add
nuts and dried fruits in it?
