The other option would be to make white shells and use colored luster dust or
paint them with
powder colors dissolved in vodka (vodka evaporates quickly without making the shells too wet), but the effect wouldn't be as bold.

paint powder with wax and rubbed over, I still wasn't 100 % happy, so I used some silver gel I had left and rubbed it over.

paint in a while, so that's what I decided to use for the cabinets.

powder all over, the mixing, the bits that just won't mix, the bumpy
paint, the completely unpredictable way it sticks to some areas and
not others (even after using milk
paint primer), the way its flaked up in random pieces larger than can be considered attractive «patina,» even after waxing, its short shelf life... The experience (disclaimer — I did
not use the Miss Mustard Seed brand) really drove home how lucky I was that acrylics were invented!
You also don't have to use a whisk to mix it, you can shake it up with the lid on it (in the little BB Frosch mixing containers) and it will mix up after you add the
paint to the
powder mixture.
You won't have to mix in any of the Texture
Powder in this final coat of
paint.
Then they scrubbed it hard with a Commet
powder and a sponge which is pretty abrasive stuff and everything came off the tile except the
paint itself and it did
not dull up either.

not get thick, grainy, or lumpy like the other DIY chalk
paint mixtures do.

Hi Cindy — The ingredients in the
powders needed to make DIY chalk
paint need to be mixed with water first — water and oil don't mix.
The 3 colors I mixed up for this cost me less than $ 15 in
paint and
powder and that's only because I mixed up 3 sample sizes, I didn't even have to mix that much up because I only used about 2 tablespoons of color a piece so in reality I spent about $ 2 on what I used.
It is
not a
powdered, casein - based milk
paint, but a premixed modern version that is so durable it does
not require a topcoat unless you want to increase the sheen.
Dissolvability of the
powder into water is the variable which changes
not only the consistency of the
paint, but its ability to flow and the intensity of hue and therefore affects the amount of
paint that is applied in each coat.
TIP: If you are planning to combine wallpaper and
paint in the
powder room, make sure the chair rail is installed above the height of the sink so any splashes from the sink land on a glossy
painted wall surface, and
not on your beautiful wallpaper!
