You may have been under the impression that having a traditional
publisher would mean that you would

to market and
sell your own writing, but nothing could be further from the truth.

to audiences, you may
not need a
publisher to help you
sell books, especially if book revenues are auxiliary

Despite efforts from different major
publishers to sell books directly through their own websites, even in the face of pricing disputes and lack of access
to titles offered by retailers at one point, it isn't a concept that has grown.
The book was particularly
to address the rapidly expanding group of self - published or independent authors — but what author doesn't want
to sell more books, even those commissioned by traditional
publishers?
Maybe if you still want
to get a deal with a
publisher but definitely
not if you want
to sell independently online.
Getting published by a traditional press might give a writer a bit more «legitimacy,» but the writer still has
to put as much if
not more work into the process, especially post-publication when the book is suppose
to sell and make the
publisher a lot of money.
I had an agent and wonderful editors, but the truth is that no one cares about your career as much as you, and if you're
not selling at the top of your game, a
publisher isn't going
to expend a lot of time, effort, and money helping an author raise that game.
(You are afraid if you don't sign, they will come
to your home and never let you write again and never
sell to another
publisher with more reasonable contract terms, so you sign away your work for life.
Meanwhile, Apple hasn't provided newspaper and magazine
publishers with any standardized method
to sell their products, other than the obvious one: the iPhone / iPad app - development kit.
I believed whole - heartedly that if my books weren't good enough
