used what I had on hand
in the
kitchen as I didn't have time to shop.

used to nanny still has the energy to help out by rolling all the cookies
in powered sugar for us.

Not sure why yours was dry or why you didn't get the right rise (I usually have the opposite problem; this
uses a good amount of yeast and
in my warm
kitchen, tends to rise too fast and quite big).
Instead of making my own crust, I
used a Wholly Wholesome gluten free crust which, though a slight compromise food, includes ingredients I could and would
use in my own
kitchen (though I don't normally
use xanthan gum).
Therefore things that might
not inherently be prohibited (like packaged coconut milk or coconut flour) still can't be
used on Passover
in a strictly kosher
kitchen.
(I live
in Bermuda and just don't keep much of a
kitchen), so I didn't
use the gram masala or cilantro.
It fit
in really nicely with my «let me
use everything I already have
in the fridge /
kitchen so I don't have to buy anything» theme.
It is a lifesaver
in the
kitchen and has been
used in many recipes, so if you don't have one, I highly suggest you march yourself to the store and buy one!
