Not exact matches
As the
name suggests, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a common source of fructose used to sweeten desserts, soda, and some other
processed foods particularly
in the USA.
Unfortunately, many
food processing plants make it a habit to purchase lower - quality equipment
in the
name of saving a few dollars upfront.
But when saturated fat got mixed up with the high sugar added to
processed food in the second half of the 20th century, it got a bad
name.
If you're
in the
food processing industry, you know that customers prefer familiar brand
names and will even pay more for a product that features a brand -
name ingredient.
These highly
processed foods — sometimes referred to as «copycat» junk
food by school
food reform advocates — bear all the same logos and brand
names as their supermarket counterparts, but are nutritionally tweaked to comply with the USDA's improved school meal standards and / or its new «Smart Snacks
in School» rules.

Think of resistant starch as
food for your gut bacteria because as the
name suggests, it resists digestion
in our guts but provides several benefits
in the
process.
When I was
in college, after taking chemistry classes, and learning about how
food was
processed, with either chemicals or fermentation to the point where bugs & fungus grew on it, I became «orthorexia» except that back then there was no
name for this condition.
It
processes literally everything that passes through our body, and it's safe to say that most of us probably have a chemical overload — toxins enter our body from numerous places
in our environment (pollution, car fumes, cigarette smoke, sun exposure),
food (additives, chemicals, artificial flavours, sweeteners,
food colouring) and body care products (sodium lauryl sulfate, and too many others to
name!)
Each region of the world has its own unique fermented cuisine that is a staple
in that particular culture, for example,
in Asia,
foods such as miso, tempeh, kim chi, tamari, and fermented fish sauce are
in common use; Europe has sourdough, yogurt, sauerkraut, and American traditions include pickles and relishes, to
name just a few.During the fermentation
process, an agent (usually bacteria and yeast) reacts with an organic substance to break it down into simpler substances.
Supermarkets are full of
processed foods whose nutrients have been expunged
in the
name of «convenience.»
Resistant starch, a type of carbohydrate, found
in many natural
foods such as, fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes are not entirely broken down by the body because it resists the
process hence the
name «resistant».
In addition to reducing carbohydrates, it's best to reduce intake of
processed and fried
foods, such as cured meats, deli meats, and French fries, to
name a few.
Toxins are potentially harmful substances we come into contact with every day — from pesticides on your produce, pollutants
in the air, unpronounceable ingredients
in processed foods, cleaning products, and even heavy metals like mercury and arsenic
in the soil, just to
name a few.

Almost all
processed foods contain it
in one form or another, and it can be called by over 70 different
names on
food labels.
Kosher salt is not «kosher»
in the sense that other
foods may be — the
name comes from the fact that it is used for drawing the blood out of meat, a step
in the koshering
process.
So,
in order to provide suitable hosts it is important that they have sufficient information provided, which should include:
name, age and gender of pupils, plus any special requirements such as
food, medical or cultural issues; minimum standards of accommodation required; information on the dynamic risk management
process to ensure it can operate effectively; the visiting school's code of conduct; and contact numbers, including emergency contacts and medical insurance information.
