do teachers who don't achieve this

Although the work for that committee had been satisfying, I left it thinking I had
done my part with the
National Board and that I wouldn't attempt
certification myself.
National Board Certification is a voluntary assessment program designed to identify, recognize and reward highly accomplished teachers and school counselors who meet the rigorous standards of the

Although I debated giving up my pursuit of
National Board certification, telling myself there was no way I could begin to
do this, especially with preschoolers, I knew I was better than that.

did an initial student survey at the start of the year that I would have all of the information I needed to get to know my students.
It has been the experience of pursuing my

do have is an alliance that has brought dramatic increases in
National Board Certification, teacher leadership development, and advocacy for students.
One of the best parts of the
National Board certification process is its insistence upon reflection - how is what one is
doing helping the students?
