«If we do not accept that climate change is an enormously important dimension of the energy challenge that we face, and larger environmental challenges that we face, we will not put into the legislation that we need, the key ingredient that we need,» Obama science and technology adviser John Holdren said in his remarks to
the National Climate Adaptation Summit on May 27.
In addition to creating
a national climate adaptation strategy, the Summit report said additional steps are neeeded, starting at the top with visible Presidential leadership.

the National Climate Adaptation Summit held in Washington, DC, in May, was transmitted to the President's Science and Technology Adviser John Holdren and released publicly on September 29.
The Swinomish won

Back in May the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research hosted
a National Climate Adaptation Summit that brought together roughly 150 people representing the US science, business and policy communities for a three - day conversation about coping with the impacts of global warming.
That was evident at
the National Climate Adaptation Summit in Washington last May, where Chicago Department of Environment official Joyce Coffee described the problems her city's adaptation effort was facing.
It also runs eight regional climate science centers and one
national climate adaptation science center.
Trump's budget request includes $ 13 million for only three of the eight regional climate science centers and one
national climate adaptation science center.

The committees suggested setting up a
national climate change
adaptation program to empower communities by using local, indigenous knowledge to help decrease disaster risk and support recovery efforts.
