This manual provides practical, step - by - step guidance on how governments and other national actors can mainstream climate change adaptation into development planning as part of broader mainstreaming efforts.
Parts 1 - 5 introduce training participants to the multiple facets of population dynamics and climate change adaptation, and part 6 presents opportunities for integration through an examination of international and national policy dialogues, adaptation planning and programs, and planning in other sectors.
This technical document includes the analysis and findings of an on - line survey on the role of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) in adaptation to climate variability and change.
Key recommendations presented in the document include: adopting migration and conflict - sensitive adaptation policies; promoting regional environmental cooperation in addressing climate change, migration and conflict; rooting national adaptation policies in the Green Economy and promoting the creation of green jobs; strengthening preventive action; and using conflict and / or migration risk to prioritize investments and build donor commitment to long - term engagement in the Sahel.
