I founded Book Country to empower this movement of community collaboration, to give writers better tools for finding the most appropriate colleagues, bettering their work by engaging with each other, and beginning to build
the natural audience for their work while they were still in the writing process.

This collaborative
work has led to numerous publications in professional journals as well as three books
for general
audiences; Overcoming Loneliness in Everyday Life (Birch Lane Press, 1996), Marriage in Motion: The
Natural Ebb and Flow of Lasting Relationships (Perseus Books, 2000), and most recently The Lonely American: Drifting Apart in the 21st Century (Beacon Press, 2009).
