A further downside is the use of a proprietary charge port rather than microUSB and the surprising
need for a power brick on the charger cable — «maximum portability» indeed.

The hefty
power brick doesn't help, and you're certainly going to
need it unless you only
need the laptop
for short stints as we'll see later on.
I like the Apple TV: the UI is easy to navigate and, if retrograde, nonetheless paves the way
for apps; the remote is excellent; it's responsive, and playback is good; and the box itself is compact and doesn't
need a
power brick.
You probably will
need to carry your
power brick with you all the time
for this system.
Not only will this charger
power up two phones at once, but it also eliminate the
need for two
power bricks and two separate cables, thus saving you space and clutter.
