Almost everyone agrees that new mothers
need good breastfeeding support so they don't give up.
It's about overcoming huge obstacles, and illustrates how badly
we need better breastfeeding support in our hospitals.

I think it is important to remember that medical staff do want the
best for the baby, I don't believe they are malicious, but are following the establishment view that formula = ok and baby
needs to be alone, lots of things that are not conducive to establishing
breastfeeding and promoting bonding.
The US
needs a major culture shift when it comes to
breastfeeding, but it also
needs to provide financial support and job security to all mothers so they can do what's

need to re-establish just how IMPORTANT
breastfeeding is and make it clear that it may
well be difficult but it is soooo important to give it time, ask for help and support, and to persevere for more than 2 weeks.
New moms
need to know that they have the space to do what's
best for the baby and for themselves — and that space gets a little smaller every time someone points out the reasons they should have tried harder and all the things they coulda, shoulda done to avoid «failing» at
breastfeeding.
