With more than 2,500 animals per year coming into our care, Washington County SPCA is always in
need of shelter volunteers and volunteer foster / sponsor care providers.

volunteering — diabetics, blind, neurological disorders, seniors, food allergies (vomiting / diarrhea — not something that is considered highly «adoptable»), limbs broken or deformed etc..

Shelter, educate our community about the
volunteer opportunities available to them and will always strive to put the

needed to work with the HSWC TNR Coordinators and property owners who have colonies
of feral cats to Trap Neuter and Return those cats back to the location to end unwanted litters and reduce feral cat relinquishment to the
shelter.
Our network
of foster
volunteers allows us to provide specialized care to more animals in
need while also opening space at the
shelter for more homeless pets.
Annually, Philadelphia euthanizes about 15,000 companion animals in
shelters due to a lack
of space and
volunteers to care for the influx
of animals in

Foster
Volunteers have dramatically increased our life - saving ability, whether they are giving older cats a break from the
shelter environment, providing isolation for cats or dogs possibly exposed to contagious disease, carrying out behavior modification programs for dogs to make them adoptable, or tending to a myriad

Proving that it often «takes a village,» to coordinate the rescue
of a dog in dire
need, one person
volunteered to pick up Chips and deliver him within a 2 hour drive
of the
shelter.
While here at our national headquarters in Richmond, California, we handle the overall
needs of the organization - producing the J o u r n a l, keeping national statistics, maintaining the website, taking care
of fi - nances, and keeping in touch with our members from around the world - as well as run our local
shelter, most
of the fostering and educational work
of House Rabbit Society is handled «on the ground,» through our
volunteer educators, fosterers and chapter managers around the world.

of a significant monetary donation to help cover food,
