The smell of sweet milk was calling my name so loud I ended up eating most of the cake straight from the plate, no cutting
needed, no fancy plates or even
whipped cream on top.
It was always a special outing for the four of us, and I always got the same thing every single time we went: a plain chocolate shake with
whipped cream and sprinkles; I didn't even
need a cherry
on top of mine to make me happy!
We ditched the sugar in the apple sauce (because it's really not
needed if you use sweet apples), replaced cookie crumble with a simple nut and date crumble and used
whipped coconut
cream on top to make it vegan.
And you
need a peanut butter frosting that's firm enough to hold up to layering more cake
on top of it, so no
cream cheese or
whipped cream frosting here.
When
needed, we warm it up in the toaster, pair it with syrup, usually maple, and add in a few fruits
on top or
whipped cream or yogurt.
The meringue bases can be made ahead of time then all you
need to do is
whip the
cream and pop the fruit
on top.
Since I usually enjoy the Coconut
Whipped Cream on top of something delicious and sweet, such as Katie's Pumpkin Ice
Cream or The Clean Plate's Chocolate Fig Frosty), I don't think the recipe
needs much sugar.
