It is also not unusual for a pet owner to see a tapeworm segment, bring their pet in for fecal examination, and have
a negative fecal test.
Puppies must be between 8 - 16 weeks, current on vaccinations / boosters, and provide proof of
a negative fecal test.
Must be at least one year old, have a current rabies vaccination, a yearly exam by a veterinarian and
negative fecal test.
Most adults with
negative fecal tests should also be dewormed because the Companion Animal Parasite Council says that about 75 % of pets with negative fecal tests have worms that are found when the samples are tested at universities and parasitology laboratories.
Cats must also have
a negative fecal test.
If coccidiosis is suspected, your veterinarian may recommend a treatment protocol in spite of
a negative fecal test.
