Viz is the largest manga publisher in the U.S., so naturally they have the largest selection of
titles available digitally: Action stories like Naruto and One
Piece, romances such as Vampire Knight and Hot Gimmick, classics like
Neon Genesis Evangelion, and arty
titles like Natsume Ono's Tesoro and Taiyo Matsumoto's GoGo Monster.
At the bank last fall, Mr. Ligon showed his
neon text
piece titled «A Small Band» and spelling the words «blues, blood, bruise,» which resonated more immediately in a neighborhood struggling with police violence than it might have at its debut in 2015 at the Venice Biennale.
The show,
titled «I Followed You to the Sun» (with that phrase echoed in of of the artist's signature
neon pieces), is on view through June 22.
Here the
title piece of the show, which at first seems out of place in glowing

Had Gander left the line that spells out his
title alone, he'd have a fine
piece, the style of each letter borrowed from other artists using
neon, from Jenny Holzer to Bruce Nauman.
The first room one entered resembled an examination hall, in which a
neon sign reading YOU ARE THE PRIME MINISTER (reflecting the
title of the
piece; all works 2014) shone over three school desks.
