a new Apple Newsstand app called CDW Magazines that one assumes will house digital editions for all four of the company's magazines (I've reached out to the editor of the magazines to confirm some of my assumptions but did not hear back).

Previously, before the release of
Apple Newsstand, many brands had released their own separate iOS apps, and this gives them an option to nest these apps within
Newsstand instead of remaining outside it (although brands can optionally release
new versions of their iOS app to achieve this instead), in order to be part of the official
Newsstand category within the iOS App Store and to take advantage of various features of
Apple Newsstand.
This
new update should give the
Apple Newsstand a run for its money giving Kindle customers a viable alternative to read the same content they purchased on the Kindle Fire on the iPad.
The digital version of the magazine is also available to international readers in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia,
New Zealand and South Africa via the

This week, 2000AD launched its
new iOS reader, adding the U.K.'s iconic anthology to
Apple's lucrative
Newsstand application.
Apple's
Newsstand is a
new way to purchase and organise newspaper and magazine subscriptions, where there's now a
new PC free set up feature that allows activation and software updates over the air — with no computer required.
The pace of

I think it works just fine, and would be a good model for B2B publishers who want to produce a native tablet edition, but don't want their art directors coming up with completely
new designs, or spending as much time producing the
Apple Newsstand version as they do on their print editions.
Apple does not make it easy, something that one now had to conclude is intentional — after all, they are well aware that their
Newsstand is a mess and either have no intention of cleaning it up, or are waiting to introduce a completely
new scheme.

The pace of
new publication launches into the
Apple Newsstand has slowed considerable over the past year, though by the standard of print magazine launches the pace is still quite brisk.
While many of the more interesting consumer titles being launched into the
Apple Newsstand come from outside the US — simply because US titles have long ago launched apps — in B2B there is still quite a number of
new apps being released from US publishers.

Apple Newsstand over the past week or so,
Said to be two years in the making, the strategy includes a brand
new tablet edition, released recently into the
Apple Newsstand — Ottawa Citizen for iPad.
