While some progress is being made in adopting out animals with the newly privatized KCMO shelter,
some new animal control policies are going to make things even harder.

On August 1st, the
animal control department in Kansas City, MO implemented a
new policy when it comes to evaluating their field officers.
In the interview, Mike Schumacher, who handles many of the
policy decisions for
animal control, said that the
new «performance standards» won't increase the number of
animals brought into the shelter.

The AVMA's
new direction is more in line with the National
