Blurb, who began as a limited print company who specialized in niche
books like professional portfolios before expanding into genres like indie cookbooks and art
books, announced today that it has a host of
new features for authors, including free ISBN numbers, direct to Amazon distribution for print, and a
new tool called BookWright that lets authors upload without having to have the expertise to submit files through Adobe's InDesign.
Finally, my publisher, St. Martin's contacted Fowler, and she was nice enough to provide Lookaway, Lookaway a

As part of a series of workshops for indie authors,

If a die - hard reader was eager enough to find this
blurb and read it, they found out about your

I'm tempted to say the depth of similarity that is permissible is difficult to define, and possibly subjective * (I mean in general, not specifically... the
blurb of this
book was copied from the original, and the
new author admitted so — so the copying is real even if some readers might think the similarities are somehow excusable).
What made Bryan decide to not only relaunch his series with
new covers,
blurbs, titles, and in a
new genre, but also why he went back and did some major editing on the early
books.
I'm helping some friends write marketing copy for a
new product they've developed, and it got me thinking about
book descriptions (by which I mean the jacket copy, or the back - of -
book description, or what some people call the
blurb *).
As an avid reader with a Twitter account that chokes on
new book links, I've noticed how short my concentration span is when I find myself at a writer's blog or reading a
book blurb on Amazon.
Although they shouldn't put their seal of approval or support on just any project (they need to be careful with the trust they've built with their followers), in general putting a
blurb on another author's
book will bring far more good than harm — it gets their name and the name of their
book out to
new readers.
Anyone browsing Amazon for a
new book to read will be seeing your cover FIRST and only reading the
blurb second, and only opening the sample if the first two catch their attention.
Sometimes you need a second set of eyes to check a
book blurb or proofread the marketing materials you've created to promote your
new book.
Here is another great
book of Fairfield Porter's (I'm just now adding to this post) Edited with an introduction by Rackstraw Downes From the publisher's
blurb... «This
new edition of Art in Its Own Terms restores to print a key statement in the ongoing discussion between Modern art and its past, as Porter reviews such figures as de Kooning, Johns, Cornell, Rodin, Cezanne, Leonardo and many others.
This was in an advertising
blurb for a
new book by Jon Thompson published by Thames & Hudson called, How to Read a Modern Painting: Understanding and Enjoying the Modern Masters.
Lawyer Adrian Dayton, for example, who joined Twitter in January 2009 and has written a
new book entitled, «Social Media for Lawyers: Twitter Edition» includes this
blurb on his
