Since last week, the arrival of the United States Department of Agriculture's
new «food
icon» (aka «My Plate» or «the
new food pyramid») has been the hot topic in nutrition and public health
circles.
The
new MyPlate
icon depicts a plate which is sub-divided and color - coded into sections which represent what we refer to colloquially as «food groups»: green represents vegetables, orange represents grains, red represents fruits, purple represents protein, and a small blue
circle next to the plate represents dairy.
The
new PlayStation Store
icon displaying the stylised PlayStation logo instead of the more iconic
circle - square - cross-triangle arrangement.
Users can change the style of the
icons also as there are styles like
circle, superellipse, squircle, and teardrop available with the
new Trebuchet launcher.
LineageOS 15.1 removes some unmentioned redundant features, all while adding
new useful ones such as
icon packs, adaptive app
icons, and the ability to select an
icon shape from a handful of designs including
circle, super ellipse, teardrop, and the so - called squircle.
Anyway, they'll have number badges showing
new emails or Skype messages and clicking the
circle - crop
icons will open a small non-resizable window where you can see email messages, skype messages, and contact details.
As you can see below, there is a
new setting in the Pixel Launcher that lets you pick between the normal
circle icon (no change), Square
icons, Rounded Corner Rectangle
icons, Squircles, and Cylindrical
icons.
Instead of the previous symbol, which is two oblong rectangles sandwiching a square over a blue
circle, the
new icon takes the shape of an abstract «W.» It's crafted out of two slashes and two dots, all in the typical Google blue, yellow, green and red colours.
The square folders and squared apps tray
icon don't sit as naturally with material design's use of
circles - like the
new instant action button in Gmail for example.
There's a
new icon next to each file that gives you an idea of where it's currently located — a cloud for online - only, a green checkmark in an open
circle for files that you've accessed and that were downloaded to your machine, and a green checkmark in a filled - in
circle for files that you've selected to always be available offline.
