a new coalition with the mainline Dems after next spring's budget process.
ALBANY — Jeff Klein may or may not follow through on a tentative deal to end his Independent Democratic Conference's alliance with Republicans and form
a new coalition with Democrats come November.
Now it appears IDC Leader Jeff Klein is also hedging on his pre-election pledge to ditch his GOP power - sharing partners to form
a new coalition with his erstwhile Democratic colleagues.
Klein on Monday hedged his bets on whether Democrats would be able to gain a clear majority in the Senate and appeared to edge away from an agreement made in June to form
a new coalition with the mainline conference after Election Day.

If the electoral arithmetic favours
a new coalition with the Tories, that would be the most beneficial outcome; rhetorically and politically, the strategy remains the same.

Before the 1970s, evangelicals voted as often for Democrats as for Republicans, but in the wake of the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s, a Supreme Court decision ending prayer in public schools, and the legalisation of abortion in 1973, the Republican Party recognised an opportunity to build a
