New knowledge from the
fields of immunology and microbiology has been applied to the development
of vaccines in recent years.
Heidelberg, Germany, March 12, 2018 — BioMed X announced today the initiation
of a
new research collaboration with F. Hoffmann - La Roche Ltd in the
field of immunology.
We will combine methods from the
fields of immunology, developmental biology and angiogenesis to understand in vivo the development and lineage - specific function (s)
of resident macrophages, thereby opening
new venues
of research into the interaction between macrophages and endothelial cells in response to tissue damage.
Under the
new model — to which Stanford University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and other major institutions agreed — nearly 300 researchers specializing in the white - hot
field of cancer
immunology across the country will be following the lead
of this central steering committee in determining the direction
of their research.

immunology, neurologic diseases, neuropharmacology, behavioral, cognitive and developmental neuroscience, and psychiatric disorders, the center's research programs are seeking ways to: develop vaccines for infectious and noninfectious diseases; understand the basic neurobiology and genetics
of social behavior and develop
new treatment strategies for improving social functioning in social disorders such as autism; interpret brain activity through imaging; increase understanding
of progressive illnesses such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases; unlock the secrets
of memory; treat drug addiction; determine how the interaction between genetics and society shape who we are; and advance knowledge about the evolutionary links between biology and behavior.
Medical progress continues to give rise to
new areas
of research within the
field of immunology, such as transplant
immunology and immunotherapy.
